Frequently Asked Questions

Is your church legal?

Yes. The Church of Mycelium is a legally recognized 501(c)(3) religious organization. Our sacramental use of psilocybin is protected by the First Amendment and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA). We operate with the legal guidance of religious freedom attorneys.

Who can receive the sacrament?

Adults 21 and older who are willing to engage in our full preparation and integration process. We have specific screening criteria for safety — those with a personal or family history of psychosis are not eligible, and we carefully review all medications.

How much does it cost?

Suggested tithe is $800–$2,400 on a sliding scale based on ability to give. Veterans and first responders are eligible for full scholarship through our Sacred Service Fund. No one is turned away for inability to pay.

How long does the process take?

The complete sacramental journey — from initial inquiry through ceremony and integration — typically spans 3–4 months. This timeline exists to honor the depth and weight of what we offer.

Do I need to be religious?

No. Our congregation includes people from every faith background — and from none. What we ask is that you approach the sacrament with openness, respect, and a genuine desire for healing and spiritual growth.

Is there follow-up support?

Absolutely. Integration support is not an add-on — it is central to our ministry. Every congregant receives multiple post-ceremony integration sessions and is welcomed into our ongoing peer community for as long as they wish to participate.

We Are Honored by Your Inquiry
